| Welcome to our new Pastor Rev. Alan Dorway | | Print | |
![]() Alan’s story... Alan grew up in Las Vegas, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Northwestern University, and a Master of Divinity degree from Princeton Theological Seminary. He is currently working on a Doctor of Ministry degree in preaching through McCormick Theological Seminary. During the last eight years, Alan served as Associate Pastor at First Presbyterian Church, Carson City, Nevada. Alan’s wife, Elizabeth, is a social worker and together they love and enjoy their chocolate lab Bailee. Alan thoroughly enjoyed living in Chicago during his college years, and he is still a die-hard Cubs fan! After college, Alan took a year off before going to seminary. During that time, he served the youth at the Mercer Island Presbyterian Church, so he knows the territory! His ministry experience in the Northwest served as a catalyst in preparing him for seminary. Alan has even been in Everett before as he has relatives in our church (guess who?)! After seminary Alan took a call at the Carson City church and has been there ever since. During this past eight years, Alan says, "I have grown and matured in my love of missions and preaching." Reverend Dorway is clearly mission-oriented as he and Elizabeth have led both domestic and international mission trips (e.g., Bay St. Louis, Ethiopia and South Korea). He also has a penchant for youth, and is highly skilled in pastoral care. For the last four years Alan has served with the Synod of the Pacific Long Range Mission Block Grant Task Force. In addition, he has chaired the Mission Outreach Committee of the Nevada Presbytery. In 2004 Alan co-founded the program “Dialogue to End Childhood Hunger and Homelessness” in Carson City. In their "spare" time, Alan and Elizabeth enjoy being in and hiking in the outdoors and playing with Bailee. Alan also enjoys golf and basketball. Even though they made lasting friendships in their Carson City church, Alan and Elizabeth are excited about the adventures and relationships that may await them in Everett. As Nevadans, they are looking forward to rain and the possibility of growing vegetables and flowers. They love coffee, good food and warm fellowship. Alan notes, "God has been part of this search and call process and I am humbled in this invitation for a call." Some thoughts from Alan... “Everyday I learn more about our Lord Jesus and his grace.” |
